Bizcochitos Recipe
Ingredients:
1 c of lard (or shortening)
1/2 c of sugar (refined)
1 pc of egg (large)
3 c of flour; sifted
1-1/2 tsps of baking powder (Calumet)
1/2 tsp of salt
3 Tbsps of wine (sweet)
1 tsp of anise seed
For the Topping:
1 Tbsp of ground cinnamon
1/4 c of sugar (refined)
Instructions:
Combine lard with sugar; beat thoroughly till creamy then add the egg. Beat thoroughly till fluffy. Combine flour, salt, and Calumet; mix thoroughly and add onto the creamy mixture. Add the anise and wine; stir thoroughly.
Roll the dough into 1/4-inch thick then cut to square shapes or any desired shapes. Mix sugar and cinnamon for the topping; sprinkle over each dough of cookie. Place inside preheated oven (350 degrees F) and bake for 15 to 20 mins or till slightly browned.
